21 Dec 2007 - Christmas Concert

Photographs to follow soon hopefully - courtesy of Peter Whiffin.
This was Brian' s first Christmas Concert experience and he survived it well. The usual organised chaos ensued with band members in their mixture of fancy dress and Christmas fancy uniform! The Beginners conducted by Rebecca were fantastic and congratulations to Matthew and Sarah for preparing the Training Section so well for their debut concert. We have some very talented musicians waiting in the wings.
Father Christmas made his customary appearance - he looked a little thinner this year - turkeys in short supply at the North Pole clearly! Great surprise, or was it shock, registered on the faces of two young ladies as they recognised a familiar face behind the beard! Who will it be next year I wonder? The Committee made its usual poor attempt at a musical item summarising the year - good words but lousy singing!
Thank you to Rebecca and Rachel for their lively and enthusiastic x-factor contribution - we really do appreciate the sentiment in the words girls!
Great also to see our Ted in the audience enjoying the evening from a different perspective. We look forward to Ted helping us out in the Spring with some rehearsals.
There was a touch of sadness this year as Chairman Sue bravely took part in the evening in spite of the very recent death of her mother. The band respectfully and movingly played a hymn in her memory.
Thank you to those who supported the fundraising aspects of the evening. It all made for yet another fantastic Christmas occasion at the Band Club.
