Dobcross Youth Band

Welcome

Dobcross is a small Pennine Village, part of an area called Saddleworth. The villages of Saddleworth have a long, well established association with the Brass Band tradition.
In 1988, at the instigation of stalwart brass band enthusiasts, Albert Spencer and Eric Arrandale, a small group of village children started to learn this wonderful art. From this an enthusiastic Youth Band was formed supported by parents and locals.
We are pleased that over the period of 15 years the Youth Band has thrived. Depending on the player's ability and experience they can take part in the following groups:- Beginner's Group, Training Section, Youth Band and our Section Band. Currently our numbers total around 100 children.
Dobcross Youth Band is an independant organisation with its own constitution and is administered by an enthusiastic elected committee. The band is entirely self-sufficient financially.
Rehearsals start at 6.15pm for Beginners, 6.15pm for the Training Section and 7.30pm for the Youth Band on Tuesdays and Fridays at the Dobcross Band Club.

The Musical Director of the Youth Band is Brian Lamb. He conducts the Youth Band and the Section Band and also oversees the development of the other groups. He is assisted by Gerald Frost, who as Assistant Musical Director conducts the Training Section.
